Duke Tech Solutions Site Update

Duke Tech Solutions (DTS)  is a business strategy and technology consulting group built on the foundation of a highly accomplished team from different industries.

BACKGROUND

The owners of Duke Tech Solutions requested a complete site redesign focused on page layouts and aesthetics, bringing more focus to the hidden aspects of their site. With the overall intention of increasing its customer base, the client required an optimized UI/UX design for their site.

Duke Tech Solutions’ website update was focused on organizing its current information architecture & the implementation of interactive user interface design.

USER NEEDS & GOALS

TELECOM LEADERS

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENTS | VICE PRESIDENTS

These users are interested in strategic work, but will not spend much time viewing information. They can be knowledgeable about the content/services they are are looking for.

The directors identified two main types of users that would visit the site, mentioning that this is a new area of business that they are venturing into:

GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIES

PRINCIPALS | LEADERS

These users are also knowledgeable about general services but are more focused on Telecom. DTS wants to introduce these users to the idea of Telecom in wellness in particular.

DISCOVER & DEFINE

HEURISTIC ANALYSIS

Competitors are balancing whitespace and large amounts of information-heavy texts on site pages in a way that allows the information to be visually digestible.

INTUITIVE LAYOUTS

STRAIGHTFORWARD NAVIGATION

Competitors have an organized and early accessible breadcrumb navigation that includes information for users to know where they are heading. Some provide secondary navigation for users, which lets them know where they were and where they are.

VISUAL INTERACTIONS

Competitors have drawn a focus to their images and interactive features to keep users engaged. Information is integrated with their visual features to allow users to gain more knowledge.

Problem Statement

Duke Tech Solutions users require a cohesive, interactive, and easily accessible flow in order to properly understand the business’s services & contact them.

My next steps included a few UX research methodologies to gather the correct tools to solve the user's and client needs in a single design solution.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

The directors of DTS are seeking to update and improve many aspects of their website, focusing mainly on the following pain points:

PAGE/CONTENT FORMATTNG

The website contains tons of important information regarding their services for users to browse. Unfortunately, the content within each page isn't formatted clearly, which makes it difficult for users to access.

SITE INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Users are not currently detecting DTS’s services because they can’t seem to find specific information. The site needs to be structured so old and new users can navigate the provided content smoothly.

INTUITIVE UI/VISUAL AIDS

Stakeholders/Directors also want to encourage users to contact DTS after navigating their site and understanding their services. They requested a more visually engaging user interface users can interact with.

CLIENT GOALS & FEATURES

DESIGN & DELIVER

Once the necessary research had been gathered, I began sketching low to mid-fidelity drawings for the different pages of Duke Tech Solution’s site.

Mid Fidelity Sketches

HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPE

DUKE TECH SOLUTIONS UI KIT

These sketches helped me move into high-fidelity wireframing and prototyping which I shared with the client to receive feedback on the design.

I also provided the client with a full UI kit of the final prototype.

CONCLUSION

Working closely with the clients allowed them to be a part of the design process and guide the design closer to their goals. After iterative rounds of designing with the clients, I delivered a high-fidelity prototype of the proposed design to the directors of Duke Tech Solutions.

For this project, I had to stay organized while planning my schedule and sticking to it. Making sure to keep track of important deadlines was the most important factor in providing deliverables to the client. This opportunity was a valuable exercise in problem-solving design issues through utilizing diverse UX methods.

"... I had the pleasure to work with her on the design of our Duke Tech Solutions, Inc. website. We will be implementing her recommendations soon. She was very diligent with the details. She had to conduct a market analysis of similar service providers, identify some of the fundamental issues, and provide very detailed recommendations to be implemented."
